Ok so we have all heard of them. The monthly subscription boxes containing some sweet swag . I caved in and decided to subscribe to one. I spent forever debating between BirchBox and Ipsy. Torn between the two, I finally went with Ipsy. Why? Well for starters, The cute makeup bag it comes with. Duh. This month’s Ipsy bag was themed sideshow. I was super happy with my decision, everything inside was perfect for me.
The first thing I grabbed was Hey Honey’s Besame Mucho Shea Butter Propolis Lip Balm. This stuff feels amazing. The formula isn’t sticky or jelly. It’s definitely up on my lists for lip care, alongside the Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment.
I was really hesitant to try the H20+ Beauty Elements Keep it Fresh Face Cleanser, because I have such a strict regimen regarding my skin care routine. But I did try it, and I LOVED it. It does have a perfume smell, so those of you who don’t enjoy that this isn’t for you. I haven’t used the cleanser religiously yet to see the effects, but I really like the way it makes my face feel after. Usually my face feels tight, and stripped of all its natural oils, but this definitely left my face feeling hydrated, and clean.
Next up, is the Ciate Bamboo Bronzer, compared to my Milani bronzer this product is matte. The application is smooth, and pigmented. Overall, it was not my favorite product in the bag, but I’m still super happy with it.
I then pulled out the Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Glow Shimmer Shadow and Highlighter, it won’t give you the glow that Colourpop highlighters would, but its perfect for the day time. Also, if you layer the product it won’t get cakey, so you can add as much glow as you want. Since it’s not heavy it also works as an eyeshadow. I used the shadow to highlight my brow bone, and loved it.
Last but not least, the excitement and craze of April’s Ipsy bag, Glamour Dolls x Lisa Frank Angle Blush Brush. To save as a collectible or not to save? I decided to test it out, and see whats so magical about this brush. I gotta say – it is pretty magical. This angled brush is not only for blush but it’s also great for contour, and highlight. I mainly use the brush for highlight since it gives great control and coverage.
Overall, i’m really happy with my first Ipsy bag. Sample sizes were generous, and definitely exceeded the price I paid for my Ipsy bag, which was $10. I’m super excited for my May bag, which I’ll share with all of you, of course.
