Sephora Spotlight: Supergoop!

But first, sunscreen.

About the Brand: The founder of Supergoop! Holly Thaggard wants to change the way you think about sunscreen. When we think of sunscreen we usually think of summer days at the beach. Loading on an oily, sticky, lotion that leaves us feeling greasy. Supergoop! wants to integrate SPF into your makeup regimen and protect you from those harmful sun-rays. This clean and ingredient conscious brand focuses solely on UV protection. Supergoop! is all about informing you about the sun and finding ways to add SPF into your life.

If there were a trio of superheroes fighting against the harmful, villain we know as UV Rays, this would be it.

Products I’ve Tried:

100% Mineral Invincible Setting Powder SPF 45

Invincible, and compact this setting powder truly is a superhero. Sweat resistant, translucent, SPF 45, and 100% mineral, how can we get better than that? Of course it does everything a setting powder does, reduces shine, sets makeup, and adds a matte finish but it’s also super portable!

I have never seen a setting powder, as easy to use as this one. The brush is washable and detaches from the base with a magnet (why aren’t all brushes like this?) and get this – the setting powder is refillable so you don’t need to buy the brush again when you run out.

Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40

Unseen to the eye this sunscreen’s superpower protects us all. Weightless, and oil-free,  this sunscreen glides right on. Personally, I use this as my primer for makeup. Since it’s winter I’ve been layering on serums and those tend to get very greasy. Which is why I need a primer that is oil free and won’t make my makeup slip off my face.

There are no parabens, sulfates, or phthalates so rest assured everything that’s going on your face isn’t harmful. What I love most about this sunscreen is, it includes red algae which help protect against the harmful effects of blue light. You know, the light emitted from our phones and computers.

The Unseen Sunscreen is definitely a product that’ll transition from season to season in my makeup bag.

Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50

Last but not least, a little defense goes a long way. The most innovative way that I have seen SPF incorporated is through the Defense Refresh Setting mist. Since you’re supposed to reapply SPF every two hours, and applying setting mist can keep your makeup put throughout the day, the two go perfect together.

The refreshing smell of rosemary and mint offer a great pick me up to brighten up your day. What’s best is the new spray technology which allows for even distribution. All in all, adding SPF to your routine will not moisturize your skin, but it’ll protect against those harmful UV rays.
